From Authors to Friends

Esther Dalseno
I first talked to Esther Dalseno on twitter when she released Drown. I am a huge mermaid fanatic, so one look at that beautiful cover and I knew I had to have this book! I began tweeting about how excited I was to receive this book, and Esther, being the kind soul she is, replied to each and every tweet! Soon after, we became Instagram friends and started talking about non book related topics. We bonded right away over dogs, mermaids, and tattoos! I can not tell you guys enough, how excited I am when I meet an author who is down to earth and willing to talk to every single one of her fans! It makes me happy to say that Esther is my Mermaid friend! If any of you want to check out her books, I am providing a few links below.

Jacqueline E. Smith

Jacqueline is such a sweet girl! I first began talking to her, when I was interested in reviewing her book, Boy Band. We bonded right away over my last name, which is Beach! Jacqueline and I are both lovers of the beach! So Awesome! Shortly after, I liked her facebook page, which is listed below. We are now friends on both of our personal facebook accounts and talk regularly! She has written two series: Boy Band & Cemetery Tours. If any of you want to check out her books, I am providing a few links below

Somewhere In Between, Katie Li

Katie Li takes you into the lives of Magnolia and Rom. The two friends have known each other since they were little. Magnolia and Rom are anxious about the future and are easily stressed out. One day they come across a gate that takes them to 'somewhere in between'.

"White light escapes through the crack as it opens, so bright against the darkness that they have to sheild their eyes as they enter."

Magnolia and Rom travel to this place often and start looking forward to their time together.

"I would never being someone else here. This is our place"

One day the two just stop going. They haven't heard from each other since, until now.

I get where the author was going with this book, but it was really confusing to read/follow. I wasn't sure if I was reading about the past or the present. I found myself not really even knowing what was going on at times. It was very easy to understand Magnolia and Rom's relationship when they were younger but sense the past and the present were meshed together, it was hard for me to understand their relationship in the present.

I do wish the author explained what was behind the gate better. Since the book focused most on that, it would be nice to have more details about the place.

To my understanding it kind of seemed like both the characters went crazy at the end? They started hallucinating their ex partners. That's what it seemed like anyway, I could have misinterpreted it though.

LA Times Festival of Books & Yallwest!

This year was my very first year attending book events! I know, you are probably shocked, because I know a lot of you have been attending these awesome events for years now. I had a really great time and met some awesome people!

The first event I attended was the Festival of Books. I had no idea what I was doing! I was really worried about the book signings and when and where they took place. I never knew an event filled with so many books, awesome authors, and friendly people could stress me out this much! Luckily, I had my boyfriend with me! We were able to hold each others places in lines while we bought books and got them signed. He was not too excited about going with me, but in the end he had a good time! He enjoyed the panels and met Henry Winkler! To be honest, I had no idea who the guy was! Overall, It was such a neat experience and I really look forward to next year.

The books that I got signed from the Festival of Books are as follows:
- Kingdom Keepers by Ridley Pearson
- Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
- Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
- Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard
- Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
- Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi
- Unite Me by Tahereh Mafi
- Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafia
- Star wars: A Moving Target by Cecil Castellucci
- Forever Red by Margaret Stohl
- The Ring & The Crown by Melissa De La Cruz
- Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige
- The Wicked Will Rise by Danielle Paige
- Ten by Gretchen Mcneil
- Pennyroyal Academy by M.A. Larson
- The School for Good & Evil by Soman Chainani

While at the Festival of Books, Tahereh Mafia, was the one who informed me about Yallwest! Yallwest, which most of you may already know, is ran by the authors! Yall means All! Yallwest is an event consisting of all YA books! So many authors and books, and not enough time. Yallwest had so many different things going on at the same time that you really had to pick and chose what meant more to you, cause there was no way you can get it all done in one day. I am sure it is extremely possible if you stayed for both day. I was only able to go on Saturday, since I live pretty far from the event. I went all by myself to yallwest and was really nervous. I only brought half my books, leaving the others in car, because there was no way I would be able to get in all the lines I wanted to. To my surprise! I met some really nice people who did not hesitate to help me out! there was this one lady, who I will always remember. She was so kind to me! We talked for a good hour while we waited in line to meet one of the authors. So I automatically told her how I felt about being alone and that I was nervous. I was freaking out because I wanted to meet both Alexandra Bracken and Veronica Roth. Both authors needed wrist bands and wrist bands were given out at the exact same time! This nice lady from the previous line, saw me waiting in line for Roth and offered to wait in Bracken's line for me!!! I also met a nice little family who I somewhat hung out with all day! If they saw me in line, they would hop in with me, and if I saw them in line, I would hop in with them! One thing I am bummed about was spending all my time in lines to meet the authors. I missed all the panels and all the giveaways at the booths. I will never get over the fact that I did not receive an ARC of Futhermore by Tahereh Mafi! I am still crying about that, and it is now almost 2 months later.

The book community is way too kind!

Here is my signed book haul from Yallwest:
- Divergent by Veronica Roth
- Insuregent by Veronica Roth
- Allegiant by Veronica Roth
- Incarnate by Jodi Meadows
- Sea Change by Aimee Freidman
- Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles
- The Darkest Minds by Alex Bracken
- Never Fade by Alex Bracken
- In the Afterlight by Alex Bracken
- Through the Dark by Alex Bracken
- Passenger by Alex Bracken
- Beautiful Creatures by Garcia & Stohl
- Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
- Young Elites by Marie Lu

Who went to these events? I would love to hear about your experiences at both events. I would also love to hear about the authors you met and books you brought home. If these events interest you, the links to each event are given directly under the photos above. Leave your thoughts & comments below! Thanks for stopping by!

Moorigad Dragon Collection, Debra Kristi

Debra Kristi takes you into her beautifully magical world. This world is very complex and is full of secrets. If you aren't careful at Mystics, you may get lost. It is always changing.

The Moorigad Dragon Collection consists of three different books: The Moorigad Dragon, Reap Not the Dragon, and Plight Of the Dragon. I absolutely loved having all the books in front of me. I didn't have to wait to find out what happened next.

This story is about a young girl who decides to run away, because she no longer fits in with her own famiy. To her surprise, Mystic's carnival finds her.

"Mystic's brought you here through the mural's portal. She's been watching you for a while now and decided you needed a place to call home."

Here is where she meets Sebastian, who is also a runaway. Sebastian means the world to Kyra and makes the carnival feel like home to her.

"No longer did she burn, nor did he freeze. Their touch was a perfect body warmth."

Kyra and Sebastian see a man who needs help. Kyra risks exposing her true form to save this man. Little do they know, this man will ruin Kyra and try to wedge his way between Kyra and Sebastian. This man, Marcus, ends up being a horrible man who wants to steal Kyra's dragon. He ends up succeeding and both Kyra's and Sebastian's parents end up getting involved. The battle take place at Mystics, and is full of dragons, reapers, maras and more. I won't spoil anything for you, so you will have to read the book to see what happens to Kyra's dragon and where she and Sebastian stand at the end.

Debra Kristi had to of selected each character and detail before being placed into this story. Kristi puts so much into her characters. Her characters are so vivid and real that they easily come alive in your head as you read.

These books were so beautifully written. The characters and story line completely surprised me. I am very sad that the story has come to an end. I feel so close to the characters and so emotionally connected to their problems.

I highly recommend these books and anything else that Debra Kristi writes! Her mind is a powerful place.

"They were still standing, side by side. Kyra wrapped her hand in Sebastian's, interlacing their fingers in a snug, never- breaking love knot."

*Fun Fact*
I am happy and proud to announce that I am part of Debra Kristi's read and review team! What an honor!

A Field Guide to Catching Crickets, A. Wilding Wells

A Field Guide To Catching Crickets by A. Wilding Wells is very sexy, extremely romantic, and mind consuming. This story is very well written and thought out. A. Wilding Wells really puts her all into her characters and gets you emotionally attached to all of them. The story is so emotional. Your body will have gone through every emotion by the time you finish the book.

I had no idea what to expect when I picked up this book. I knew amazon banned it, and to be honest, that made me want to read it even more!

The book is about a young couple who are so madly in love. The book is told from both of their points of view. The young girl, Sloan, has to be sent away without telling Hawke, her boyfriend, why. One day, 10 years later, Hawke hears that Sloan will be coming home. No one is surprised that the two want to pick up where they left off. Their love was strong enough to overcome the ocean that was between them and the length of one Sloan's absence. But is their love strong enough to overcome Sloan's dark secrets? Or Hawke's career choice?

I was going crazy trying to guess what Sloan's big secret was. I was completely shocked when she finally came clean. The end of the book is so intense, you will not expect any of it. I can't explain how this book made me feel, but I do know that my emotions were everywhere.

A. Wilding Wells blew my mind! This was to first book I have read by her, and I look forward to reading more! This was such a perfectly put together story. I don't even know how I am writing this review right now because the whole ending of this book has left me feeling speechless.

Awaken, G.R. Thomas

Such an amazing story! G.R. Thomas takes her readers on an exciting adventure. Her words are so beautifully descriptive that her book devours and consumes you.

Awaken is about a young girl named Sophia, who thinks her life is completely normal. She has her best friends, a possible boyfriend, and a beautiful horse. One day her life completely changes. Nothing and no one are what they seem. Sophia has no idea who she really is and what she is capable of. She soon discovers she is not from this planet and she was born for something beyond her wildest dreams.

"I morphed somehow from Sophia Woodville, average 20 year old girl with poor eyesight and a fear of spiders, to a lightning-throwing, flying being, with swirly blue eyes that could track an ant from outer space. It was all too unbelievable, but there it was."

G.R. Thomas gives her characters and her world so much history and background. I am amazed at how complex the story line is. It takes place in the modern day but also puts a twist on biblical and historical characters and events. This, in my opinion, was awesome and extremely unique.

As Sophia says, this world, "makes twilight seem like Sesame Street".

You truly have no idea what kind of story you are getting yourself into when you pick up Awaken! I really recommend this book! I have never read a book with such a well thought out world! I can not wait for the second book!

Our Demons, Best Friends; Diana T. Scott

Our Demons,Best Friends by Diana T. Scott is a story about love and trying to be happy, while dealing with a tragic past.

I love reading stories where the characters just pop right out of the book like they are there with you. Diana's characters are amazing and such a great group. Ava, the main character, starts falling in love with a boy, Sebastian. This boy, along with herself, has a horrible past. This book is about overcoming your past and not letting it ruin your future.

"It didn't seem fair to force you to make friends with my demons. Who knew they were already falling for you."

Can Ava and Sebastian make their relationship work? Will their demons get along?

Our Demons, Best Friends is extremely relatable. Many of us, who are dating, always worry about our past and if it will effect anything in the future. This books shows you that, that is no way to live. There are people out there willing to accept your past, your demons.

This book was such a cute, and sometimes irritating, love story! I'm looking forward to reading more by Diana T. Scott.

In the Context of Love, Linda K. Sienkiewicz

In the context of Love by Linda K. Sienkiewicz is one of the most relatable love stories I have read. Angelica, the main character, told her story in second person, like she was talking to her highschool love, Joe.

Angelica grows so much throughout the story, making her character more real and relatable. She endures high school drama, temptations with sex and love, marriage, divorce, and kids.

This is a very beautifully written romance/coming of age story. Linda K. Sienkiewicz makes you feel as if you are in the story yourself. My heart broke for the characters, I cried for the characters, I laughed with the characters, and I loved with the characters. Seeing the main character overcome everything and become a strong independent young woman was amazing.

Linda K. Sienkiewicz writes in such a way, that you are automatically sucked into her book. Her words hypnotize you and you can't stop reading. I was so into this book emotionally I devoured it in one day.

I had no idea what I was getting into when I began this book. It surprised me. I highly recommend this book!

Bound, Kate Sparkes

Kate Sparkes takes you into a world like no other. A world where there is magic, monsters, mer folk, dragons, fairies and so much more!

This book is about a young girl named Rowan, who is expected to get married and settle down, but longs for adventure instead. Rowan finds a hurt eagle one day, and nurses him back to health. The eagle turns out to be more than just your average eagle and after meeting him, Rowan's life soon becomes the adventure she has been longing for.

Kate Sparkes is very detailed and creative when it comes to describing the world she has created! Her world is so enchanted and magical. The way she writes kept me wanting to read more. The words effortlessly started flowing through my mind. She gave each character a lot of background information, so that you completely understand the characters and their actions. Rowan faces many struggles throughout the book with family, love, honesty, and herself. These struggles make her easy to relate to. Rowan is trying to find herself and figure out what she is capable of.

This was a very fun read and I really look forward to reading more by Kate Sparkes. I'm dying to get my hands on the rest of this series! I highly recommend this book!

Finding Emma, K. Ryan

Finding Emma by K. Ryan is a story about a woman named Emma who moves from her home town to be alone. Emma enjoys being under the radar, especially after her horrible past. Emma soon meets a cat who changes Emma's lives. Who knew so much love could come from a cat, and I am talking about way more than just the cat's love. Emma meets a young man named Finn. He is the greatest thing that has ever happened to Emma and she is actually happy again! But can he handle her past?

Finding Emma is not your normal love story. This book is the most relatable love story I've ever read. It's full of love, happiness, sadness, harassment, life and friendship. We all have our own past/baggage that we run from. Not all of us are as lucky as Emma, and can face it.

When I first started this book I was a little unsure about it, because it started off a bit slow. But shortly after, the book grabbed my attention and there was drama all over the place. I got to a point where I couldn't stop reading. I had no idea what was going to happen next or who was going to end up with who. Finding Emma is no where near predictable and that's what I loved so much! The love in this book is so strong.

K. Ryan's writing is very unique and extremely relatable, as I stated before. I've never read a love story like Emma's, Finn's, & Oliver's. I really recommend this book, and I look forward to reading more of K. Ryan's work! #TeamFinn #Finnsmybookboyfriend

*Fun Fact*
This book is actually based off of bits and pieces of the authors life. She actually has a cute little cat named Oliver! I just had the honor of seeing him the other day on Instagram. This book also helped me put my blog in motion. I have always wanted to start a blog, and my boyfriend has always been willing to help me, but I just always thought the initial starting process would be hard and confusing! But after reading about Emma and her blog, and how people were actually recognizing her from her blog, I decided that it was time. So... here is my blog!

Boy Band, Jacqueline E. Smith

Boy band by Jacqueline E. Smith is such a cute happy love story. This book went above and beyond my expectations. I felt so happy while reading it.

Mel is a 20 year old in love with her best friend. Do I have to say how relatable that is? The problem is that her best friend is part of a famous boy band. How hard can it be to love someone that the whole world loves too?

Smith has such a friendly familiar way of writing. I felt like all her characters were my friends and that I was a part of the book. She gave so much back ground information on almost each and every character that it felt like real life. She also starts each chapter off with lovely music lyrics from the band in the book, The Kind of September. Smith incorporated the many positives and negatives of fame, along with all the drama.

I fell in love with the characters, the writing, and the story. Everyone should read Boy Band! Especially if you are looking for a cute love story.

Lily and the Octopus, Steven Rowley

Jump into Ted's world.. Where true love exist, friendship is never broken, and octopus are not what they see
m.

Once you read this book, Lily will never leave your heart. It was impossible not to fall in love with Lily. Ted and Lily's bond is stronger than any I've ever heard of. A true pair of best friends. This book takes you on a heart clinching ride. I was constantly crying, because this story hit me real close to home. You meet Lily, and learn that she has a growth that will forever change their life.

There are a few small hints throughout the book at what the octopus might really be. You can easily make an educated guess as to what lily has and what will happen to her. That makes everything in the book a little more sad as you continue reading. But, it does not in any way take away from the happy parts of the book. Ted & Lily had many amazing adventures together. For those two, everyday was an adventure. With this book releasing in June, Lily will continue having adventures inside each and every reader.

Steven Rowley writing is very creative! The octopus is extremely symbolic and I loved how he described the battle between him and lily and the octopus. He knew how to make the story, more than just a story. Steven went above and beyond with the details and creativity. He captured Lily perfectly and should be extremely proud.

Thank you for allowing me to get a small glimpse of just how amazing Lily was.

Treacherous Shadows, Jennifer Parr

Treacherous Shadows by Jennifer Parr is a Fun,exciting, nerve racking, pulse rising, adventure. I could not stop reading and even if I could, I didn't want to.

Aeria and Aeron are the only pair of siblings. Families are not able to have more than one child due to a dark curse. How did Aeria and Aeron get so lucky? The two are known as Dviinu and have a bond like no other. What will they do when their bond is at stake? Can the two survive? Aeria and Aeron will meet a boy, who will change their lives forever. But there is a little something mysterious about this boy, this new person.

Jennifer Parr gave us a heart quenching love story! It's been a while since I have read such a great love story. I really felt the emotions and how much the two wanted one another. How can anyone deny true love? Going from feeling like an outcast, an abomination, to feeling perfect and loved is a dream come true for Aeria. It's the perfect love. Until one night, it's not.

Jennifer Parr's writing is so creative and amazing. The background history put into this story is very detailed and well thought out. Oh and did I mention that the cover is super gorgeous!!! If you haven't read this book, I highly suggest you do! Or at least add it to your TBR.

Slumber, Christy Sloat

Have your dreams ever felt real? Has reality ever felt like your dreams? What do you do when a strange boy from your past arrives to save you? When nurses turn into birds and doctors are evil queens.

Rory is convinced she killed her boyfriend. That is how she ends up in an asylum after all. That all changes when people show up trying to convince her that she is not crazy and that she didn't kill her boyfriend. Rory soon finds out that her life is nothing she thought it was.

Slumber by Christy Sloat is a fun and exciting twist on the original Sleeping Beauty fairy tale, which she did fantastically by the way! This book is full of revenge, lies, true love, family, friends, and hate. This book has it all! It was such an exciting, thrilling read. I read the whole book in one sitting. Christy's writing style is so beautiful! The whole book played out in my head perfectly. I felt like I was a part of the story, like I was actually in the asylum helping everyone plot to defeat the evil Dr. M!

This book is told by Rory's point of view, as well as Dr. M's point of view. This gives the reader more insight on the story and why characters are behaving the way they are.

I truly have nothing negative to say about this book. The only thing about my situation right now, that is close to being negative, is the fact that I don't currently have the second book in this duology! Meaning that I have to wait to finish the story!

*Fun Fact*
Christy Sloat is actually my boyfriend's best friend's sister! How funny is that? We lived in the same town and attended the same high school! It took me three years to figure that out, but I am extremely glad I did! Christy is super sweet and I can not wait to check out more of her work.

Awaken, Skye Malone

Have you ever felt you belonged somewhere that you've never been? Chloe, currently living in Kansas, has always longed for the ocean. She never knew why, since her parents have a strong hatred for it. Chloe runs away from home to join her best friend, Baylie, for a vacation. By the ocean. Chloe has no idea that this trip will change her whole life and what she knows. She soon learns the secrets kept under the sea and discovers that her family has a few secrets of their own. Chloe becomes a part of something bigger than she could have ever imagined.

Such an exciting story! The details and history that Skye Malone put behind the dehaians and the landwalkers is amazing. She really pulls you into her world with her magical creatures. She also gives you a list of dehaian words and how to pronounce them. I finished this book in one sitting because I couldn't put it down. The book is told from two different points of view, which I really enjoy. You get insight from both above water and below. The words used to describe the creatures and their characteristics are so vivid and beautiful. This book played like a movie in my head.

I am so excited that this book is part of a series! I highly recommend this book! If you are looking for an exciting read that is full of love, family, threats, and friendship, then Awaken is definitely for you!

The Ohana Tree, Rebecca Addison

Rebecca Addison wrote the most perfect story. With just the right amount of love and heart break, The Ohana Tree has easily made it's way into my top favorite books.

The Ohana Tree is about a young man torn between family, responsibility, passion, and love. The main character, Kai, will teach you about family and how family should care for one another and make sacrifices for one another. Kai is content with his living situation and routine until he meets Tessa. Kai is unaware that she will change everything. Is it possible to be afraid of loving someone too much?

This book kept me on the edge of my seat! I was an emotional wreck. I was happy, I was laughing, I was hurt, and at times I was balling my eyes out. There are many surprises and secrets throughout the book! I could not put it down!

I really enjoyed Addison's writing style! This story is very complex and is not going to be the story you are expecting to read. I look forward to reading more of Rebecca's work and hopefully seeing more of Kai and Tessa.

Always remember, "Family isn't always the people who made you; it's the people who love you".

Waking The Merrow, Heather Rigney

Would anyone believe you if you had a well known drinking problem and claimed to be seeing mythical creatures? No one believed Evie.

Strange things start happening to Evie when a mysterious woman shows up in the village. Evie has no idea who this woman is and how much damage she will soon cause. What will Evie have to do to keep her family safe?

Waking the Merrow by Heather Rigney is full of Lies, death, mysteries, disappearances, secrets, love, family, and loyalty. Once you pick this book up, you won't be able to put it down. Don't bother picking out a bookmark for this one, because you will not be needing it.

Right away I noticed that Heather Rigney's writing style is so descriptive and beautiful. The images would just flow through my mind so vivid and so easy! It's like she thought about each word, one by one, before she wrote it down.

This story is very unique because it is told from the humans perspective. While reading, we get to know Evie's family and their problems with the merrow. This story is so different from your typical story! You have no idea what will happen next and everything you read starts to surprise you. Waking the Merrow really messed with my emotions. If you haven't read this book, I highly suggest that you do.

Updrift, Errin Stevens

I am a huge mermaid fan! I've read millions of mermaid books and have never read one like Updrift by Errin Stevens! This book was exhilarating and I could not put it down! I constantly found myself wanting more and needing to know what happens next.

This book is about a young girl named Kate who meets a boy named Gabe after a swimming incident. Kate and Gabe begin to fall more and more in love with each other as they grow older. Their lives will forever change the day Kate drops everything to meet Gabe by the ocean. Little do they know, there is someone willing to risk it all to tear them apart!

Updrift has it all! A wonderful bond between family and friends, a great love story, intense jealousy, and deceit. As I already stated, this book is so different from your typical mermaid story. I highly recommend Updrift! This is a must read. I am anxiously waiting for Breakwater, which is the second book in the Mer Chronicles.

Criminal Utopia: Fear The Hacker, J. Arthur Squiers

First things first, I absolutely enjoyed Criminal Utopia: Fear The Hacker by J.Arthur Squiers. Right away you are introduced to Jim, who is the main character. Jim is a kind, honest, and determined man. His determination helps him succeed at the marathon and continues to help him succeed throughout the story. His positive qualities are what attracts the hacker.

The story starts out extremely exciting and actually stays exciting! J.Arthur Squiers' story will never bore you! It had one action packed scene after another, and if it wasn't full of action it was full of suspense. I could not put this book down. I found myself always wanting more! It was easy to put yourself into Jim's and Emily's position (Emily is Jim's fiancé). Since it was so easy to put yourself into the book, you feel like you need to continue reading in hopes of finding out what happens. The ending is perfect! You will not know what hit you when you find out who the hacker is.

The story ties together at the end perfectly and there are many surprising and shocking moments! You can not try to guess what will happen because nothing is what you expect in this story! Lacey is a character introduced mid story. She actually ends up being my favorite character! She is very tech savy but also has a brain and can make do without technology. I really do hope to see more of Lacey in future stories.

J.Arthur Squiers provides an aftermath explaining why everything happens the way it does. You will also get some character background history, along with more details about certain scenes in the book. This is awesome because you don't have to sit there asking yourself questions after finishing. J.Arthur Squiers answers all your questions!

This story not only excites you and scares you a bit, but it also makes you think. You become more aware about how important technology is to people of this day and age. You also realize how easy people can get access to your information and life.

Criminal Utopia: Fear The Hacker is a hauntingly exciting read! I highly recommended this book! Always Remember.. "Crime is crime, it's never justified" - J.Arthur Squiers.

*Fun Fact*
This book was the very first book I have ever reviewed! For that reason, this book will always and forever be special to me. The author is a super cool dude too! I will not ever forget the video he posted on Instagram about his book giving people nightmares. The first night I began reading this book, I stayed up decently late reading. I woke up in the middle of the night( yes, you guessed it!) with nightmares!!!!

What Lies Within, James Morris

It's not every day that I get to read exciting books about science and experiments. Wh
at Lies Within kept me on my toes and wanting more!

"Violence was like a virus, ready to spread."

What Lies Within by James Morris is creative, thrilling, and heart pounding! He invites you into Shelley's life and provides loads and loads of back ground info as the book progresses. This book is extremely complex and well written.

Shelley is a young girl who lives an ordinary life. She has a good job, her best friend Winston, and a loving father. Shelley's only problem is that her dad wants her to work with the family business but she has big dreams of traveling the world. She soon  learns that she has far bigger problems than she ever thought she could.

Out of nowhere, a young boy finds Shelley and claims to be her brother. A few days later, he is dead. Shelley finds that she along with 12 other young people are on a list. Everyone on this list is being hunted down and killed. But why? Can Shelley and Winston figure out the puzzle? Can they solve this mystery before the hunter comes after Shelley?

This book is extremely well thought out and very well written! The cover is also really beautiful! I liked Shelley's character and her relationship with Winston. I really loved Winston! Always willing to be there for Shelley and saving her, if need be.

"I just Luke Skywalker-ed you from the Death Star!"

Everyone needs to read this book! James Morris is amazing! This book blew my mind.

Cant Fight Fate, Lisa N Edwards

Can't Fight Fate by Lisa N Edwards is a story about a woman, Nikki, trying to find herself in the world. This is a cute, fast, and exciting read!

Nikki is 38 and still doesn't have her life together. 17 years prior, she met with a physic who told her all about her perfect man. Nikki now lives in LA with her best friend, Siobhan, and sets out to find herself and her perfect man. She gets a good job and goes on a few dates. Nikki thinks she is destined to be with a beautiful green eyed man, but is the physic right? Can a physic determine fate? What if Nikki's fate is headed in a different direction? She will soon learn that you can't fight fate.

Edward's characters are very relatable, especially Nikki. Aren't we all just trying to start our careers and find the perfect partner? There is tons of drama in this book, along with juicy gossip. We get to see the struggles of Nikki and Siobhan, while they live in LA! Each and every struggle, once again, is very common and very relatable.

I am so happy that I already have the second book in this series. I will be starting it as soon as I post this review! Everyone go read this series!

Beaten, Rebekah Rue

Beaten by Rebekah Rue is a super intense, exciting, nail biting story about love, friendship, and loss.

Let me start by saying my heart is broken and this book left me feeling all kinds of emotions. In a good way! I can honestly say that you will never be ready for some of the things Rebekah throws at you. Beaten was so intense that I could not, and would not, stop reading til I finished the book.

This book is about a young girl , Lo, who lives with extremely strict parents. When they die, she blames their death on herself. She moves away to live with her best friend Maggie, leaving her first love, Heath, without any notice. Lo soon meets a big ladies man named Talon. Talon knows that Lo is enough to tame him and it is instant attraction. Lo saves Talon.

"You fell to me from heaven and have become my heart. I love you."

One day, Lo's first love comes to town. Is Lo's love for Talon strong enough to survive once Heath is back in the picture?

I was so emotionally attached to the characters. Lo was extremely relatable and I cried with her, laughed with her, loved with her, and hated with her. Now Talon, that boy is PERFECT. He changes completely for Lo, and is willing to go above and beyond for her.

This book made me so happy and so sad. It was perfect though. The story was so perfect and I loved it so much! I highly recommend this book!
