This book is about a young girl, Ember, who lives with her dad. Ember lives an odd life. She works at a funeral home, doesn't get along with her father, and finds herself spending all her free time in cemeteries. Ember's dad dies and she has no idea how much this will change her life. Ember is now in danger. She has no idea who she really is and can no longer be protected by her dad.
Ember is now trying to make sense of the supernatural and her new cousins. Something happened 12 years ago that no one remembers. Ember left 12 years ago, people died 12 years ago, and the last time she saw her cousins was 12 years ago. Can Ember be involved? Why is she in so much danger? Why does the supernatural world want her? What is Ember? These are all questions that you may be asking yourself right now. You will have to pick up this book and read it for yourself!
Children shouldn't play with dead things has the prettiest purple cover ever! This book is also beautifully written! There is so much details and characteristics behind the characters and situations. This book was very well thought out and blew my mind! All the information and background history was really awesome. The characters were all easily lovable! Well, there was a few irritating characters, but I'll let you read and determine that for yourself. This book had the perfect amount of mystery, love, friendship, and betrayal!
I am definitely looking forward to book two!
