Seed of the Sunflower by Lisa N. Edwards

- Goodreads Synopsis -
Can the words of a Psychic influence your thoughts?
Your Choices? Your Destiny?
What if a Psychic could see your future?
Nikki is a Hollywood entertainment lawyer who thinks she's found the green-eyed man. Her soul mate; foreseen by the Psychic when she was 21.
But has she?
Sometimes all it takes is time...

"Here's the thing, I've been to lots of psychics over the years, possibly hundreds, and they've told me lots of weird and crazy things. The one things that never changes though is the green eyed man!"

Okay guys, It has been a while since I read the first two books in the Can't Fight Fate series! So, being back in Edward's world with Nikki and Siobhan was really awesome! Sometimes I forget how much I love some of the characters that are in the books I read. With that said, I was super excited to read Seed of The Sunflower, the third book in the series.

For those of you who don't know, Nikki had spoken to a psychic long ago who told her that her soul mate had green eyes. Since then, Nikki has driven her self crazy, only paying attention to men with green eyes, hoping to find the one. Since the previous books, Nikki's life is a little bit more together. She gets a great job offer, basically saves her friend with the backstreet boys, and is of course still meeting green eyed guys. Nikki is shocked when she finds out that Calvin is her first client at her new job. Why can't she get away from him? Did he follow her over here on purpose? Calvin is determined to make things right between the two of them. I refuse to tell you guys anything else about Nikki and Calvin and you guys will have to read this series if you would like to know more. They have had a super crazy relationship and it is definitely one you do not want to miss out on. I will tell you guys that after a while, Nikki is surprised to find herself feeling jealous. Does that mean she want Calvin back? You will have to read to find out!

"I wasn't sure if I wanted to be just a petal, one of many. I wanted to be a butterfly landing on his sun flower and stealing his heart, not purely just another petal to fill some sort of void."

I know I already said this, but the ending is CRAZY! Completely and totally crazy! Edwards throws a huge curve ball at her readers and definitely breaks a few of our hearts along the way. I was finally so convinced that Nikki has found her soulmate and that she was finally getting her perfect ending and then BAM!

Lisa N Edwards really puts her whole heart into this story. As a reader, I can tell. The story, the words, and the characters, she is putting all she has into this story and that really shows. This book is so vividly written and Edward's characters are all so detailed and complex. I felt like I was the third girl in Nikki and Siobhan's group! The whole time I was reading, it was as if I was a friend experiencing all this with the two of them. I don't know about you guys, but I know that those are the best type of books.

Although the ending completely blew my mind, if you look at the bigger picture, the ending was super cute! Edward's really outdid herself with this one. Each book just gets better and better. I am looking forward to more of this series and I miss the characters already!

Cloak of Shadows by C.K. Dawn

- Goodreads Synopsis -
The gloaming is near

What if all you've ever known of King Arthur's legend was a lie to mislead you from the truth? What if Camelot truly existed, but was destroyed to keep its secrets? And, what if there were descendants of the Knights of the Round Table defending us today from the creatures that lurk within the shadows? If the gloaming came looking for you would you answer its call?

Fourteen year old Abigail Thorne answered the gloaming and it turned her life upside down. Along with her mentor Lourdes Reese, a seasoned hunter in the King's Court, they banish the evil shadows while most dociles sleep in their beds. Fighting hidden creatures that feed on humans, glimpsing fractures that lead to another world, and wielding magical weapons all before geometry? That's a normal day for Abbey now, and she loves every minute of it. As for Lourdes Reese, she has unique abilities that can't be explained and is the best hunter the King's Court has seen in over a thousand years. Abbey and Lourdie have no idea that being sent to Britain will unleash a chain of events that will change everything and everyone they love forever.

A life will be lost, a life will be taken, and an unexpected new romance will emerge all while the fate of two worlds balances on the edge of a hunter's blade.

"Omg, they have Wi-Fi here!" Abbey squealed as she plopped her bags on her bed. Lourdie laughed through their open double doors, "We're in a medieval castle, not in the medieval ages, Abs."

Dawn takes us into a magical world full of hunters, the Kings Court, and evil shadows! Yes, you read that right... evil shadows! One thing I enjoyed about this book was all the imagery. Dawn does an awesome job at painting the story and the characters into her readers minds. Cloak of Shadows is book one in The Netherwalker Shadows Series, even though I think I read this book third? There are a few different ways in which you can read this series. The order in which I read this series was the way that the author had recommended to me. I could not help but think about Star Wars when I was trying to figure out the best order to read these books in! haha.

C.K. Dawn introduces her readers to a girl names Abbey. Abbey is 14, and training to be a hunter of the Kings Court, along side of Lourdie. Lourdie is Abbey's mentor and together the two females kick ass! Abbey is undergoing her trial and it just so happens that her next trial is in Porthleven. Porthleven is home to Lancelot's descendants, so it is kind of a huge deal for Lourdie and Abbey to be invited! Porthleven is not everything Lourdie and Abbey thought it will be. Lourdie starts acting weird, people are in danger, and darters and dragons are being seen. The girls start to realize that Abbey is not the reason they were sent to Porthleven. Lourdie was. After this trip, nothing will ever be the same. Nothing but weird things have been happening since the girls arrived here.

You guys definitely need to read The Netherwalker Series! I read a few short stories in this series last year and it was so nice to jump back into Dawn's world this year. I felt as if I was rekindling my bookish relationships with with her characters. This truly is a series you do not want to miss. I can not wait for the next book in the series. Dawn really puts her own twist King Arthur and Camelot!

Sandy's Story by D.F. Jones

- Goodreads Synopsis -
Forbidden romance, angels, and demons, supernatural warfare, Sandy's Story is a thrilling paranormal romance and the last book of the Ditch Lane Diaries.

Sandy is clairvoyant and works as an investigative reporter for Channel 3 News in Nashville. She is following a lead on a murder near music row that unleashes a chain of life changing events.

Sandy's guardian angel, Baldric the Warrior, helps her to solve the crime while fighting the growing attraction to her. Falling in love with his Ward breaks all the rules of heaven.

When someone steals Luc's Testament, all sorts of hell unleashes. Luc uses Baldric's ward to get his book back with the help of his demon angel, Caiojezeal, and his army.

The Campbell Ridge wards and their warrior angels must come together to save one of their own in an epic battle between good and evil.

But at what cost? Will love be enough to fight the lord of all darkness?

"I have a confession to make. Last night, as you gave me your heart, I didn't offer mine in return. You're right. It's against the rules for us. It's against the rules for humans, too."

D.F. Jones is absolutely brilliant! I have said it before and I will say it again! The Ditch Lane Diaries series is really something special! Sandy's Story is the third book in the series and just might be the best one yet!

Jones really has a way with words. Her story is deeply etched into my mind and as I read, I could not stop. This is definitely a series that I need more of. In Sandy's story, we get a lot more information about Sandy and her past. We are finally able to get the inside scoop on her relationship with her guardian, Baldric! Oh, how could I forget! We also get to see how the three girls (Anna, Ruby, and Sandy) first meet! I really, really enjoyed that part of the book. It was nice to get that little piece of background information!

Book three really focuses on the Cambell Ridge Wards and Lucifer, as well as Sandy and her love interest! Can Sandy really be in love with her guardian? Is that legal?

The problem really starts when Luc's book gets into the wrong hands, which puts Sandy in danger. This is a very valuable book and somehow Sandy knows where it is. The war betwen the angels and the demons officially begins when Sandy is taken! Can Baldric help Sandy? Where was Baldric when Sandy was taken? Can anyone find her before Luc gets what he wants? What does Luc even want to begin with? You will have to read this book to find out! There is a lot of juicy drama in this third book and you definitely do not want to miss any of it!

"I paired them, Lord. Their love is not ordinary; it is extraordinary."

This book was my favorite so far! But the second book is a close second. I really, really, really loved the second book! I absolutely adore Sandy and Baldric's relationship! Those two have a very special sense of humor and I really enjoyed reading about them. I also fell for a new character in this book, Caiojezeal. We meet Caiojezeal when Sandy gets taken. He is not who he acts to be though and he really surprised me. Talking about him brings up the fact that Jones's characters are so detailed and lifelike. Jones does an amazing job at making her characters and story come to life around her readers. Each character has a story and a background, which allows them to become real in the eyes of the reader. There is nothing better than being able to put yourself into the book with all your favorite characters.

The Ditch Lane Diaries is a super unique series about love and friendship with a little bit of angel and demon drama sprinkled on top. I have never read anything like this series and it will forever be one of my favorites! Each of these books are filled with excitement, drama, lies, jealousy, love, and just about everything you can think of! There was never a dull moment when reading this series. I completely devoured each book and I am almost positive that you all will too! Add this series to your TBR list!

Love Me While I'm Gone by Diana T. Scott

- Goodreads Synopsis -
For a very long time, my biggest accomplishments had nothing to do with what I really wanted. When I decided to give up my mother’s dream and fight for my own, I never imagined choosing one dream could put me on the path of the one I never knew I wanted – meeting him. Collin. He quickly went from a friend to a companion, to soul mate, to heartbreak.

After he left Chicago, leaving me with nothing more than a text message, I only had one sane choice – to act like he never existed and go on with my life. A ghost can’t break your heart.

But now he’s back and he’s prepared to prove me otherwise. Is it possible to love someone against your will?

"She could rule the world if she decided that's what she wanted to do. For now, I'll just have to pray she doesn't decide to rule me, because she totally could. And I would let her, without even a fight."

I adored Love Me While I'm Gone for so many reasons. The main reason being that all the characters from Our Demons, Best Friends were in this book as well! The Half of Me series is absolutely amazing and I love that each book focuses on a different character's story. Diana T. Scott has created an amazing series with even more amazing characters!

Love Me While I'm Gone is book two in the series. Book two is about Collin and Emily! Collin and Emily first met through Emily's sister Lana. Lana just so happens to be working at the same place as Collin. Emily is trying really hard to rekindle her relationship with her sister and in the meantime starts to create a relationship with Collin. Emily and Collin keep there relationship to themselves, and they like it that way. Emily was really started to change Collin. Collin was becoming a better/ happier person because of Emily and their relationship! Unfortunately, this all changes in a matter of hours. Collin just disappears! He leaves one day, without telling Emily anything. Then.. Collin really has the nerve to come back into Emily's life 2 years later? Yup, you read that correctly! Collin is back. Where did he go? Why did he leave? Why didn't he tell Emily? You guys will definitely need to read this book to find out! This book is incredible and I promise you will not regret it! I could easily tell you guys why he left and what happens next, but I really do try my hardest not to spoil the book for anyone.

After reading the first book in this series, I did not think any book could beat it! Our Demons, Best Friends was such a great book. I was surprised when I finished this book, because I enjoyed it just as much, if not more! Diana T. Scott's books just keep getting better and better! Her covers are absolutely beautiful too! How could you not love these books?

Scott really knows how to create amazing characters! Her characters are so complex and full of history. I felt like I knew each and every one of them. I truly felt connected to them, like they were all my friends and I was dealing with all their problems along with them. That is when you definitely know you are reading a well written book! A reader should always be able to relate to the characters and be able to place themselves into the book!

I really liked Collin in the first book, so I was super exited to find out that this book was about him. Collin is super mysterious and quiet, so I really enjoyed getting to see a little bit more of his life and his story! Collin is definitely book boyfriend material and he can email me anytime!

Sports Romance/Romantic Comedy

The first thing I need to say is that I am a HUGE hockey fan! This book was super exciting for me and I have never read a book like this before! I absolutely love S.R. Grey's books, so when I saw that she wrote a book about romance and hockey, I just about died. This was the most perfect book ever and I can not wait to share my review with you guys and all my hockey loving friends! Do you guys like hockey? If so, leave a comment below with your favorite team!

"Look at him, Lain. I bet your romance authors would have a blast writing about a guy like him." "They would, and they do write about guys like him," she assures me. "All the time in fact. Why do you think I read so much?"

Grey introduces us to a hockey player named Brent. Brent's dad is pretty big in the NHL and Brent has a huge name to live up to. Brent plays for the Las Vegas Wolves, which is a pretty cool name for a hockey team! Going off topic a little.. Las Vegas did just get a hockey team and they are calling themselves the Vegas Golden Knights. While reading this book, I couldn't help but think that the NHL should have let Grey name their hockey team. Las Vegas Wolves sounds pretty badass if you ask me! Back to business, Brent plays along side his two best friends: Nolan and Benny. The Wolves used to be a really hard team to beat, but lately something has been a bit off. The team is requiring Brent to get a life coach. Yup... a life coach, you read that right! That is how we meet Aubrey. Brent and Aubrey have a little tiny bit of history. They had a little confrontation at a party a week prior! You will definitely have to read that part for yourself! I can not spoil that incident for you guys. sorry! Aubrey becoming Brent's life coach changes everything. Will Brent allow Aubrey to be his coach? Is it even up to Brent? Can Aubrey work with a client that once stole her panties? These two are in for a big surprise!

"I hate him, but my hooha disagrees."

S.R. Grey writes such lovely books! I fell in love with her Promises Series and am now falling in love with her Boys Of Winter series! There is something about her writing that just grabs my attention and keeps it! Her sentences are perfectly written, allowing the words to flow smoothly through her readers minds. I love the stories and the characters that Grey creates. Her characters are so complex and easy to relate to. Relatable characters is always a huge plus because the reader can put him or herself in the book along side them. I know I definitely felt like I was right there in Brent's house watching him and Aubrey argue back and fourth.

I totally fell in love with Aubrey! She is so serious yet so funny! Her inner voice had me dying of laughter. That girl thinks about some crazy things. The sexual tension in this book was super intense! I do not think I have ever read a book where the characters wanted each other so badly but took forever to act upon it. Overall, I loved the story, the hockey, the romance, the characters, the drama, and just about everything! This book was a really cute, fun read! I am a sucker for love stories and I can not wait for the rest of this series! I am still in shock and I can not believe that there is actually a hockey romance series! S.R. Grey rocks!

Anna's Way by D.F. Jones

- Goodreads Synopsis -
The Ditch Lane Diaries continues with Anna's Way.

Anna the healer, Ruby the dreamer, and Sandy the soul reader are The Wards of Campbell Ridge.

Anna discovers that she has a guardian angel named Ralph. He is a part of the elite warrior angels that has been sent to train The Wards of Campbell Ridge against the forces of darkness. Ralph teaches Anna how to use her divine healing power while she learns as much as she can about modern medicine. As Anna’s power grows stronger so does her drive to become a doctor. Anna receives a full ride out of state scholarship for medical school, but she is in love with Jerry.

Will Anna pursue her divine calling at the risk of losing true love?

"There was no way to explain it. Trying to explain their love would be like trying to explain how Mozart wrote symphonies."

Anna's Way was absolutely AMAZING! I don't think I have ever got so worked up about a book before. My emotions were so into the characters and the situations as I read them, that I felt like I was actually in the book! A book has never made me as mad as this book did, or as happy as this one did!

Anna's Way is the second book in the Ditch Lane Diaries and is a bit different from Ruby's Choice (the first book). The three girls learn a lot more about their powers and can finally talk about them! How cool is that? In the previous book, the girls were not able to speak about their powers til the time was right. Anna, Ruby, and Sandy even meet a few other people who are wards, just as they are. The girls are preparing for a war, and not just any war. Wards were not given the power of the angels for no reason. There is a lot expected from these girls and they are really starting to feel the pressure. While dealing with their guardian angels and this life that was chosen for them, the girls are still trying to deal with school and their social lives. Anna finally gets Jerry, the boy of her dreams! But how long will they last when he learns that she has plans on moving away to attend medical school? I honestly do not even know how to review this book without giving stuff away! Anna and Jerry's relationship made me want to pull my hair out and die! They made me so happy and so mad all at the same time! Like I said above, I have never been so mad while reading a book before! hah.

Since the girls are finally able to talk about their powers, they can also finally discuss their guardian angels! The story and all their lives finally start tying all together. At first it seemed like the girls were living two separate lives, but they are slowly intertwining them. Anna gets caught multiple times talking with her guardian angel and to other people it looks like she is just talking to herself, or an imaginary friend. Jones really knows how to write an amazing story! She has one main big important story going on between the angles, the creator, the wards, and Lucifer, but then she also has little stories going on as well. I am amazed at how well Jones has portrayed this story on paper. Just trying to explain all the different story lines is hard enough, it takes an amazing writer to be able to write about all of this and not confuse the reader.

Between Anna's boy drama and the war that these girls are apart of, there is never a dull moment. There is always something going on and there is always a reason to keep on reading! I missed dinner because I couldn't stop reading this book. I needed to know what happened so bad that I was dead to the world. D.F. Jones really impressed me! I am amazed at this series so far and each book seems to get better and better. I can't wait for Sandy's Story. This series has it all and is easily one of my favorites! I am a forever fan of D.F. Jones! If you like drama, romance, betrayal, demons, angels, secrets, magical powers, and jealousy... then this book is for you!!!

Cyborg Tales by J.F. Johns

- Goodreads Synopsis -
They're cyborgs.
They weren't always.

Eric Thorn's best friend is seeking revenge. Bloody revenge. Lisa Vanderbell's husband is behaving strangely. Sam Harris is losing his family whilst Madeleine Smith can't wait to forget hers. Rory Patterson is dying and Charlotte Yin is going blind.

I read Eternal Darkness last year and was blown away with the characters and the story. The whole concept of this series is just so awesome that I can not believe a human mind thought of it all! Maybe J.F. Johns is secretly a cyborg? Hmm.

Cyborg tales is a very short novella about a few characters and how they became cyborgs! We get to hear stories from Sam, Lisa, Rory, Eric, Madeleine, and Charlotte. All 6 of these characters have totally different reasons for wanting to go to this mysterious place that can supposedly cure any illness! But can this place actually help them? Does this place actually have the cure? Or do they have other intentions for these patients?  If only the characters knew that their lives would never be the same when they woke up in that place.

It was awesome to get back into John's world and revisit her characters. It definitely got me all excited and ready for the next book to be released! If science, cyborgs, and books in general are your thing, then you need to pick up the first book in this series! This is a series you definitely do not want to miss out on.

A Neophyte's Tale by C.K. Dawn

- Goodreads Synopsis -
Abigail Thorne hears voices. Well, one voice repeating one word over and over again. Soft and sweet with the promise of power, it calls to her. The twelve year old has no idea that the tender little word is a catalyst that serves to reveal a world hidden to most humans. Abbey has yet to discover that following the word’s call to its origin will change the course of her life forever.

Abbey and her mother don’t have much, and depending on the day, sometimes they don’t even have a roof over their heads. She wants more out of life than just wondering where her next meal is. So she shouldn't be wasting her time daydreaming about going on a selfish quest, should she? Does she have the strength to leave behind what little she has? Will she have the courage to break through the illusions surrounding her and lift the cloak of shadows?

Last year I read Cloak Of Echoes by C.K. Dawn, and absolutely loved it! I fell in love with the story, the ideas, and basically just about everything! It took me a while to finally read this short story, A Neophyte's Tale, due to the holidays and just life getting in the way. Now that I have read this book, I have no idea how it took me so long! It was awesome being back into Dawn's world with all her characters.

This book is a prequel to Cloak of Echoes. Dawn allows us to understand a bit more about Abbey and she shows us how Abbey becomes who she is. Abbey is only 12 in this book and she has a very rough relationship with her mom. Abbey wants normalcy and friends; but what Abbey learns about herself is the complete opposite. This short story gives the reader a lot of important information! If you are a fan of the Netherwalker series then you can not miss out on this story! I pulled Cloak Of Shadows from my bookshelf immediately after finishing this one. I am excited to learn more about Abbey and the court!

"Did I really see that shadow turn into a monster? And what about that strange buzz I felt around that cop?"

C.K. Dawn has an amazing imagination! She really knows how to paint a picture in her readers minds. I recommend this series to anyone and everyone! I have never traveled to a world such as this one and I have never read a series as unique as this one!

The Friends Zone by Tarrah Anders

- Good reads Synopsis -
Dane Crawford is head over heels in love with his best friends Sterling Cranefield, but she is in love with her current boyfriend. When Sterling’s boyfriend abruptly breaks her heart, she tries to withdrawal but her friends don’t allow it. During an innocent game of Truth or Dare, Dane and Sterling’s lives take a different direction than either of them thought was possible. Will they cross the Friends Zone and enter into a relationship that lasts?

“Are you going to become a cat lady?” She teases.
“Nah. I know one day, I will find my…. What do those chick flicks call it… oh yeah; Soul mate.” I joke, well aware that my soul mate is sitting across from me chugging on her beer and poking fun at me.

The Friends Zone by Tarrah Anders was a short and exciting read! Anders' words grabbed me and dragged me into the book and would not let me go until the last word was read.

The Friends Zone is about two best friends, Dane and Sterling. These two have been best friends since 5th grade, which was 17 years ago! Dane has always had a crush on Sterling, but Sterling has always been in relationships. Sterling is currently dating a boy named Ryan, who Dane absolutely hates. Dane obviously does not want to ruin his and Sterling's friendship, so he has never made any moves on her. Ryan makes a huge mistake, which leads to the end of his and Sterling's relationship! Will Dane finally make his move? Can Dane convince Sterling that they could be amazing together? Will Sterling risk their friendship? Or will Ryan weasel his way back into Sterling's life just as quick as he left it?

This book is full of love, lust, betrayal, heartbreak, deaths, weddings, fights, friendships, sex, and so much more! I would love to talk about Sterling and Dane some more but I refuse to give anything else away. If you guys would like to know what happens with these two, then you will have to go pick up the book and read it yourselves!

Tarrah Anders really captured my attention with this book! I obviously knew this book would be about friends, due to the title, but other than that I was not sure what to expect. Anders' did not disappoint. This book was pretty consistent in pace and was exciting until the very end! I can't wait to read more from this author!

The Waiting Room by Alysha Kaye

- Goodreads Synopsis -
Jude and Nina are the epitome of that whole raw, unflinching love thing that most people are jealous of. That is, until Jude dies and wakes up in The Waiting Room, surrounded by other souls who are all waiting to pass over into their next life. But unlike those souls, Jude’s name is never called by the mysterious “receptionist”. He waits, watching Nina out of giant windows. He’s waiting for her. What is this place? How long will he wait? And what will happen when and if Nina does join him? The Waiting Room is a story of not just love, but of faith, predestination, and philosophy, friendship and self-actualization, of waiting.

The Waiting Room by Alysha Kaye was an extremely cute little story! I can honestly say that I have never read anything like this.

"Have I ever told you that I love you more than all the eyelashes in the world?" She was so random sometimes.

Alysha introduces us to a couple, Jude and Nina. Jude and Nina have always had a deal about dying. The two of them have always wanted to die at the EXACT SAME TIME. At first thought, we are all kind of thinking about how impossible that is.. right? But is it really that impossible? Jude ends up dying before Nina and he is shocked to find himself in the waiting room. People come and go constantly in the waiting room, so why is Jude still there? Why hasn't Jude's name been called to move on to his next life? Jude has been in the waiting room for 52 years now! Everything changes the day that Nina dies and is found face to face with Jude in the waiting room. This is when their lives really truly begin! The moment Jude's name is finally called, isn't a sad moment at all. Jude's name was called along side Nina's! What does this mean for the couple? Is Jude finally leaving the waiting room? Will Jude and Nina be separated? Will they even remember one another?

"It was the love I'd always read about in books but never believed in."

I absolutely adored this book! It was a quick little happy read and I could not put it down. Each life Jude and Nina live is absolutely perfect! Alysha Kaye definitely knew what she was doing when she began writing this story. I do not think Jude and Nina's story could have been written any better. The book was well written and for how many lives the characters lived, the book was extremely well organized. This book really surprised me and I am so happy that I was given the chance to read it. I truly do look forward to reading more by this author in the future. You guys definitely need to add The Waiting Room to your TBR list! Do it right now!

The Lerewood by Andrea Churchill

- Goodreads Synopsis -
Legends speak of a place called Lerewood, an isolated little village set in the middle of an immeasurable, ghostly wood. The townspeople suffer from severe poverty and filth, living more like savage animals than a cultured civilization. However, despite the town’s inhuman conditions, the townspeople never seem to die from disease or starvation, and their numbers only seem to grow with each generation. No one knows the truth of how Lerewood came to be, but many secrets seem to revolve around an ancient, legendary creature that lives in the surrounding forest. They say she’ll hunt anyone who dares trespass onto her land; those who enter the forest never come back.

One middle aged man, Uallas, depressed and tired of abuse from his monstrous wife, decides to commit suicide by entering the wood. But when he steps foot into the mythical dark forest, Uallas finds that everything he ever knew about the town, and himself, were lies. These new discoveries only lead to more questions, where the truth can only be found in the mysterious, undiscovered world.

The Lerewood introduces the topics of natural evil, identity, and judgment, all while moving the reader with detailed personification. It is a tale of darkness, and will appeal to many readers with its rich, moody descriptions of the eerie, mythological forest.

Andrea Churchill takes us into Lerewood, a very secluded, savage like town where people are not very nice and not very taken care of. Churchill provides the reader with so much detail it is insane! I was able to picture the town of Lerewood perfectly in my head due to her choice of words! This is the first book I have read by Churchill and I had a wonderful impression right from the start. Churchill brought you into this world and kept you there with all the suspense regarding the legend of the Lerewood forest.

The Lerewood forest is said to be haunted by Ilere, a cursed creature who lives in the woods. Anyone who goes into the woods... dies.

Here in Lerewood we meet a man named Uallas. Uallas is not very liked by his family and refused to go home one day. He then decided to run straight into the forest. Does he find Ilere in the forest? Does Uallas die? I obviously can not tell you guys what happens, so you will have to pick up a copy of this book to find out!

This book was very entertaining and fun to read! I definitely recommend it if you are looking for something short and creepy.

Dreamers Often Lie by Jacqueline West

- Goodreads Synopsis -
Jaye wakes up from a skiing accident with a fractured skull, a blinding headache, and her grip on reality sliding into delusion. Determined to get back to her starring role in the school production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, Jaye lies to her sister, her mom, her doctors. She's fine, she says. She's fine. If anyone knew the truth - that hallucinations of Shakespeare and his characters have followed her from her hospital bed to the high school halls - it would all be over. She’s almost managing to pull off the act when Romeo shows up in her anatomy class. And it turns out that he's 100% real. Suddenly Jaye has to choose between lying to everyone else and lying to herself.

Troubled by the magnetic new kid, a long-lost friend turned recent love interest, and the darkest parts of her family's past, Jaye’s life tangles with Shakespeare's most famous plays until she can't tell where truth ends and pretending begins. Soon, secret meetings and dizzying first kisses give way to more dangerous things. How much is real, how much is in Jaye's head, and how much does it matter as she flies toward a fate over which she seems to have no control?

"If you sit by yourself in a dark room for long enough, you'll see ghosts."

I have never read anything by Jacqueline West before so I was really excited to start this book. Oh, and how about this cover? This cover is so beautiful yet so mysterious! I had no idea what the book was even about until I began reading! The story is very unique and completely different from anything I have ever read. Which is always a good thing! I love reading books that are different and Now days, a lot of books are starting to become very similar.

Dreamers Often Lie is about a girl named Jaye. Jaye happens to be in a very horrific accident that put her in the hospital. Jaye has a frontal lobe injury which can affect a persons memory, personality, and physical functions. Jaye begins to mix up real life and her dream life. Jaye is the star of her school play, A mid Summer night's dream, and I think the stress of the play and the possibility of not being well in time, plays a big factor in her Shakespearean hallucinations. Jaye begins to see Characters from Shakespeare's plays in real life, which starts to really take a toll on her. Jaye refuses to tell anyone about her hallucinations. She just wants to be normal again. Jaye rekindles her friendship with pierce, an old family friend, and also meets a new boy, Rob. Rob just so happens to be the Romeo from her dreams. It takes a while for her to believe he is really real at first. Jaye starts to like Rob, but it is hard for her to be open about it because Pierce absolutely despises him. What will Jaye do? How can she make such big decisions?  She isn't even fully healed yet! How will she handle her hallucinations? Will she ever learn what is real and what isn't?

Dreamers Often Lie was really well written and fun! I loved being in Jaye's world surrounded by Shakespeare's characters. This book feels like it would have been really hard to write. The author did an amazing job bringing back Shakespearian characters and she did an awesome job making them feel real! Jacqueline didn't change the characters at all, it was like her characters were the same exact characters I used to read about in my english classes in high school. The author really did take on a hard task when writing this book, and I can honestly say that she completely nailed it! woohoo!

I did have to read this book very carefully though! If one speed reads, or does not pay close attention, I can see the reader becoming easily confused. The relationships drove me insane throughout the book! I really do love me some love triangles! But for some reason this one just drove me completely bonkers. Sometimes I liked Rob and other times I liked Pierce! I still do not know who I like more!

The only problem I had with this book was the ending. It was definitely an open ending, which is okay! I am all for leaving books open and letting the readers minds wander. But my problem is that I'm not completely sure I even understood what happened. I obviously can't go into detail about it because I would hate to give the ending away for anyone! My advice would be to pay very close attention when reading the end and maybe you will be a little more confident in what you think happened, than I am.

Overall, very good book and extremely well written. Like I said before, you have to be a really good writer to pull off a book like this.

Kiley, Renee, and Austin each start the summer out on separate paths. But their journeys intertwine and bring them closer to becoming who they’re meant to be. As the sun sets on summer, they each find a part of themselves they never knew existed.

"You're part of my family. They all love you. And that's all family"

I was immediately drawn to this book because of the cover! I absolutely love books that take place in the summer time and at the beach. I have never read anything by Erin Mahoney before and after reading Finding Home, I will definitely be reading more by her! Finding Home went above and beyond my expectations! I devoured this book in one sitting because I had to keep reading. I didn't have a choice.

Erin Mahoney introduces us to a young girl named Kiley. Kiley and her mom do not have the best relationship so Kiley goes to North Carolina to visit her Aunt, uncle, and cousins for the summer. When Kiley decided to leave home for the summer, she also decided to leave her boyfriend Josh for the summer as well. Josh was upset but he did not care like Kiley wanted him to. Josh was slowly changing and Kiley can not seem to figure out why. Kiley begins to make friends out in North Carolina and actually starts to have fun, while still worrying about Josh of course! Everyone likes Kiley! Kiley is the "new girl" so boys are going crazy over her. Kiley ends up establishing a really good friendship with a girl named Renee. Renee has an older brother, Austin, who is also into Kiley. That is when things get a little crazy! Renee does not want Kiley to date Austin, but at the same time, Renee would rather have Kiley date Austin than Josh. Renee really hates Josh! Will Austin ruin Kiley and Renee's friendship? Does Kiley even like Austin? But what about Josh? Kiley is still dating Josh! Will Kiley give up Josh for a fling with Austin that may only last the summer?

There is so much going on in this book! I absolutely love it! I love the romance and I love the drama! Austin is totally book boyfriend material and I love him! Erin gives us many amazing characters to fall in love with! I loved how she allowed us to read the book in multiple Character's points of view! I really enjoy that, because we are able to get a little glimpse inside everyone. I also loved her hockey references! I love hockey so I really enjoyed the fact that Kiley's mom was dating Mike off the LA Kings at one point in her life. Go Kings Go! (I never thought I would be able to write GKG in a book review! hah)

Erin Mahoney's writing is so wonderful! I could read her work all day, every day! She really has a way with words and allows each and every little detail to flow effortlessly throughout your mind. This book flowed so beautifully, it was as if I was watching a movie right there before my eyes. This book would make an awesome movie by the way! I loved the book, the story, the setting, the characters, and the drama. I would not want this book any other way. It is perfect!

When The Time Comes To Light A Fire by Nicole Campbell

- Goodreads Synopsis -
There comes a time in every girl's life when she is forced to pose a troubling question: What have I done? Sixteen-year old Vanessa Roberts is quickly learning how to deal- with her annoying pretty-boy lab partner, her incredibly ADD best friend, and the seemingly widening gap between her and her mother. Zack Roads should have been everything she deserved. He is more than just a nice distraction; he is also the cause for every envious glance shot Vanessa's way as she enters her sophomore year at Gem City High. What happens when she finds herself amidst a storm of hope, regret, and the danger of losing herself along the way? Readers have come to love Vanessa as the sharp-tongued best friend in What Comes of Eating Doughnuts With a Boy Who Plays Guitar and How One Attempts to Chase Gravity, and they now have the chance to see her transformation through her own tough choices and mistakes.

Some of us are very familiar with Vanessa, Luke, Courtney and Ethan! For the ones who aren't, I will try my absolute hardest not to give anything away. The Gem City books are super amazing and I would hate to spoil them for anyone.

When The Time Comes to Light a Fire is the third book in the Gem City series. This book goes back to eight grade and gives us a little glimpse of Vanessa, her friends, and this horrible ex- boyfriend of hers we hear a little about in the previous books. This book is Vanessa's story.

For those who have read the first two books in this series, we have all heard a thing or two about Zack, Vanessa's ex. In this book, Nicole shows us how the two met and why their relationship was so horrible. Nicole also shows us Vanessa's and Luke's relationship and how everyone met Ethan! This is all super exciting because we are able to see how all the characters grow and became friends before Courtney comes up for a summer visit. If you are a fan of the Gem City books then this is a MUST READ! This book is like a prequel to the other two books and I absolutely enjoyed it. I loved everything about Luke's and Vanessa's weird, awkward relationship and how he never liked Zack to begin with. By now, I am sure you guys are all wondering what Zack did and how Vanessa went from Zack to Luke? Luke basically saved Vanessa! It was super cute and I see Luke in a total different light now because of it. That is all I am allowing myself to say though. It is so hard trying to write this review without spoilers! I love this book and all the characters so much that I just want to blurt everything out to you guys!

"Boyfriend, lover, protector, knight in shining armor, whatever. All of it works for me."

This book has everything a good books needs! Friends, relationships, betrayal, backstabbing, love, lust, laughs, tears, and DRAMA! Nicole really delivers awesome books! I am looking forward to other work by Nicole Campbell. I am a forever fan!

How One Attempts To Chase Gravity by Nicole Campbell

- Goodreads Synopsis -
Ethan Fisher is kind of a badass- just ask him. The fact that he plays guitar and sings in a band only serves as fuel to the fire of his flirtatious nature. That is until he meets Courtney Ross, a sort of anxious, pixie-like cheerleader with a vocabulary much larger than his. Things would be perfect if she didn’t live eighteen hundred miles away. She shifts his perspective and steals his heart, but how long can she keep it? Find out what was behind all of those sexy smirks in What Comes of Eating Doughnuts With a Boy Who Plays Guitar, and what really went down the night of that fateful phone call.

College bound, Ethan knows he will run into Courtney eventually, and he is determined to have another chance to be the man she thought he was. If it is even possible for her to speak to him without throwing her coffee in his face. He’s willing to take his chances in hopes that the infatuation of their summer love can hold up in the real world. In a novel that is part insightful overlap, part delicious sequel, learn how this winding tale of love and heartbreak ends.

"She hurried back into the house, no longer a single girl. Were you ever really single after you saw him anyways?"

I read What Comes Of Eating Donuts With a Boy Who Plays Guitar and absolutely fell in love with Nicole's work and her characters. Her characters came to life and became some of the quickest friends I have ever made. After that, I knew I needed to read the rest of the Gem City books.

How One Attempts To Chase Gravity is book two in the Gem City series. I absolutely loved this book because the whole first half was basically book one, What Comes Of EAting Donuts With a Boy Who Plays Guitar, but from Ethan's point of view. As the reader, I felt very lucky to learn about how Ethan was feeling when he and Courtney first met, when courtney moved back home, and when they started having problems. This books makes you realize that there really is two sides to every story. After reading Ethan's story, it is a bit easier to really grasp what was happening and why the characters felt the way they both did. I am so thankful that Nicole decided to let us see into Ethan the way she did.

"He was going to attempt to chase gravity- he needed the feeling back that he had when he was touching her, like the world was theirs and she was the strongest force in his universe."

In the first book, we learn that Ethan and Courtney make the most perfect couple ever!!! The only downfall to their relationship is that Courtney lives far away and will have to go back home when summer ends. They both realized that they can't handle the distance so they end up breaking up. In book two, we quickly learn that Courtney and Ethan chose to go to the same college. This means that they are definitely going to see each other eventually! Now, I could go into detail about what happens when the two finally do see each other, but then that would give away part of the story. If you would like to know what happens then I highly suggest picking up a copy of this book! All I can say is that when these two finally see each other again, their worlds forever change! The Gem City series definitely does not disappoint and I am very confident that you will fall in love with the characters and Nicole's writing, just as I had.
